1974 | The ASL Group started operations in 1974 in Singapore as a sole proprietorship of Mr Ang Sin Liu engaged in the trading of scrapped steel material under the name "Ang Sin Liu Hardware". |
1982 | With the increase in construction activity in the 1980s, Ang Sin Liu Construction (Pte) Ltd ("Ang Sin Liu Construction") was incorporated to undertake building construction works. |
1986 | Ang Sin Liu Hardware purchased the lease of a shipyard land in Jurong to undertake ship-breaking activities |
1988 | Ventured into shipbuilding. First barge completed and sold. |
1989 | We tapped into the growing domestic and Indonesian market for ship chartering and logistics services by diversifying our business into the provision of tugs and barges. |
1990 | Completed and delivered our first bunkering tanker for a local customer. |
1992 | Incorporated Ang Sin Liu Shipyard Pte Ltd |
1992 -1995 | Completed and delivered a series of 4 bunkering tankers for the Singapore Shipping Group. |
1996 | Purchased the leased hold shipyard land in Batam, Indonesia. Incorporated PT ASL Shipyard Indonesia. |

1997 | Admist Asian financial crisis, ASL Project Services secured various contracts for the marine transportation of 1.0 million tonnes of rocks and building of series of barges and lub oil tanker. |
1998 -2003 | Completed and delivered a series of 17 units of harbour tugs for PSA Marine, Port of Napier and Redsea Marine. |
2000 | Secured contract for transportation of 2.1 million tonnes of armoured rocks 1.75 million to the West Natuna Transportation System. |
2002 | Our founder, Mr Ang Sin Liu resigned from our Board. He is currently an advisor to our Board. |
2003 | ASL Marine was publicly listed on the main board of Stock Exchange of Singapore (SGX). |
2005 | Commenced operation of 5000 tonne lifting capacity floating dock in Batam, Indonesia. |
2006 | Commenced operation of new 260m x 60m graving dock. Incorporated Jiang Men Hongda Shipyard Ltd in Guangdong, China, our first investment in China where we held 60% stakes. |
2007 | We secured the first shipbuilding contract for the construction of cutter suction dredger |
2008 | Commencement of operation of 2 medium sized (230m x 32m and 180m x 28m) graving docks in Batam. |
2012 | In December 2012, we acquired the 100% interest of VOSTA LMG, a specialist engineering company with bases in the Netherlands and Germany. |
